Many years ago, my now ex husband and I were visiting my aunt and uncle in Maine. We decided to take a walk along a well worn grassy tractor path into the woods.
After awhile we turned around to walk back. After a few minutes, the path seemed a bit denser and felt to me rather primitive. My husband felt it also, like we were on an ancient wagon train trail. We kept on for a little longer, but figured we’d got off the original trail, so decided to back track. We walked back to where we had turned around originally and when we turned back around, the original trail was there. It felt rather eerie to us both and we had no problem this time getting back to start--albeit with more haste to be out of those woods!
It’s been over 30 years since that experience but I can still remember and see that scenario in my mind eye.
I believe I would’ve gotten out of those woods as fast as possible. What a fascinating story. I am always surprised at how often this kind of things seems to occur.
There is a place I like to go to in the Woods. A small trail is there, used by both human and animals...deer, coyotes, etc. And there is a Honey Locust tree. When I go there, I feel the spirits of the Cherokee. It's so very quiet. I read the words of an archaeologist who wrote about the sacredness of the Honey Locust to the Cherokee, that where there is an old HL tree, there was once a Cherokee village within a stone's throw of that tree...Sometimes I can almost hear the sounds of the people, see their camps.
Nancy, after I had related that story of the man who tipped his hat to me and went into the building that no longer exists, I spoke to my son who studies quantum mechanics and he decided to look for the building. Not only did he find it on maps saying it is there today but it has a heritage sign on it to say who lived there. A famous artist of political satire and then he showed me an artist’s painting of him! Only the same person who tipped his hat at me in the 1970’s to go into the building which did not exist at that time! The curious thing is that the Google map picked it up as existing today!! So of course we are going to London to see if this is true. With caution of course because I am certain there is a strange blip in that part of the strand.
When my son showed me the painting, I had chills on my spine. The interesting discovery about it all was the fact that the gentleman 'saw' me and acknowledged me, perhaps because I was wearing a ballgown for a Viennese waltz and did not look out of period, and I thought it was a Dunhill advertising coach or something of that nature so I was already smiling when he smiled at me, tipped his hat and went into a tall building I thought was a bank. (In fact, it was his home) There was yet another interesting coincidence that happened on that same day. I went into the dance studio to practice the dance in the mirrored room to get all the angles right, and had to vacate the studio as it had been taken over by Sat. Night Fever dancers...first time I heard the music and before I, much later, by coincidence, met R. I enjoyed the music but was quite miffed about losing the room! Then when I left I had the shock of discovering the building was not there... only Chelsea Girl and Top Shop etc; I still have the ballgown!!
Absolutely fascinating, Nancy. These happenings remind me of the Moberly-Jourdain Incident in which a pair of women claimed to have visited the palaces at Versailles in 1901 and experienced a "time travel" glitch. According to the pair, they were touring the grounds and happened upon an area where the workers were dressed in old-fashioned clothing. Then, they said they saw a woman in the gardens whom they thought was Marie Antoinette. Whether their claims are real or not, the subjects of time travel, glitches in the matrix, astral projection, and reincarnation have always intrigued me!

So beautiful and so true. There’s an ancient site in Northern Arizona where my sister could hear children laughing. You are blessed with this vision.

Fascinating! I will read more about it.
