I forgot I had a copy of Tarot by the Moon,
written by Victoria Constantino. Divided into chapters for each month of the year, the author introduces us to the name given the month by some Native American tribes, then shares several spreads that resonate with the month’s energy.
For August [yes, I know it’s September], the Sturgeon Moon (also known as the Green Corn Moon and the Fruit Moon), the focus is on abundance, expanding your reach, and bringing clarity to your goals. The spread that I was immediately drawn to is called Expanding Your Reach.
This spread is for those of us who are creatives, ‘seeking to make [their] mark in the world’. This definitely applies to artists, diviners, healers, or anyone in a ‘help’ profession. As we all know, it’s tough to let people know what you do without sounding like some icky salesperson.
This 8-card spread is laid in a circle. Because I can’t get a good shot of the spread in the book, I’ll use my own cards so you’ll get the idea of how to lay out your own. Also, I tried the spread with tarot, the Southern Gothic Oracle, and my own Ancestral Magick decks; all seemed to work well. So if you don’t like tarot, go ahead and get out your favorite oracle.
The eight positions are:
How can I make more of an impact? Kitchen Witch
How can I expand my reach? Dream
What talents, gifts, and abilities can I use to help me expand? Green Witch
How can I apply these constructively? Outlaw
In what ways do I need to reach beyond myself? Poetry
How can this help others? Warrior
What can I offer that is of the highest value? Innocent
Where do I need to grow to make the greatest impact? Father
I added the names of the cards, just so you could see the order in which they’re drawn. But, I admit my own draw gave me serious pause. I’ll leave it to your imagination as to what hit home for me in this spread.
So what about you?
Will you draw this spread - either as a creative, healer, or a metaphysical ‘business’ person - and report back? I thought it provided information that my logical mind would have skipped right over.
Til next time
Nancy
P.S. In case you’re wondering, I used the brand new Ancestral Magick Oracle, available from La Panthere Studio . And if the cards in the image look a little sketchy re: quality, it’s my photography, not the cards! They’re gorgeous.
I am really enjoying this spread! Working with Kim Krans’ Archetype deck for the reading, and am still mulling over all the beautiful wisdom!! Thank you so much for sharing this!! 💖✨
