A pendulum board is a simple tool to
learn more about ancestors, health, job, etc., than you ever dreamed possible. While a basic yes/no pendulum reading is useful, a pendulum board expands your ability to receive detailed and specific messages from your ancestors, depending on the board’s design.
If you’ve never seen one, a pendulum board is a surface marked with various responses for the pendulum to swing toward. The most common boards include:
Yes/No/Maybe – A basic board that allows for quick answers.
Alphabet Boards – These feature letters, numbers, or words, enabling more complex messages. These are more like a Ouija board.
Custom Boards – These include features dependent on how it’s going to be used. The two images below are 1) for ancestral use; and 2) for states of being as well as astrological signs.

In a pinch, I’ve often created my own pendulum board on a piece of paper. For instance, I will draw a half-circle with rays, each marking a century to find out when an ancestor lived. If you look at my ancestral board (above) you’ll see that instead of centuries, it’s marked off in social eras, i.e. colonial, medieval. The other half of the board notes geographic places.
The chart below is for assessing health. It could be used in a variety of ways, from looking at a specific organ to whole body. It’s all in your intent.

All of these boards can be drawn on a piece of paper; they are easy to make and personalized for your specific needs.
Ancestral Roles Board – Sections labeled Warrior, Healer, Teacher, Rebel, Protector, or Seer to identify which ancestral energy is influencing you.
Family Lineage Board – Quadrants for Maternal Grandparents, Paternal Grandparents, Maternal Great-Grandparents, and so on, to pinpoint which lineage is communicating.
Past Life Connection Board – Labels like “Recent Life,” “Distant Life,” “Unknown,” or “Not Relevant” to explore past-life influences connected to your ancestors. You could also include time periods and geographic places.

Ancestral Herbal Wisdom Board – Sections like Mugwort, Rosemary, Lavender, Yarrow to determine which type of plant or herb to work with for ancestral rituals, spellwork, or personal well-being.
Ask the Ancestors - If you want to know what’s best for your body, create a board with sections for foods (like fruits) or supplements. For example, a half circle with rays, each ray named for a fruit: banana, blackberry, melon, mango, cherries, etc. Let your pendulum tell you which of those fruits is best for your body.
I’d love to know what kind of board you create for yourself. Thanks for sharing!
