Full Blood Moon Ancestral Omen
the omen of balance
I’m doing something unusual.
My Dark Moon Omens are sent on every New Moon to paid subscribers. But this month, I couldn’t resist writing a Blood Moon Omen for everyone as today is the Full Moon and a total lunar eclipse (not visible from North America).
High-powered energy is up there in the sky.
Tonight, the Blood Moon rises in Earth's shadow. This lunar eclipse in Pisces asks us to dive deep into the waters of our unconscious, to face what we've kept hidden, and to emerge transformed.
Unlike the gentle introspection of a Dark Moon, this eclipse is more forceful—the cosmos holding up a mirror to show us what must be released and what must be reborn.
The Dark Moon Omen is sent to paid subscribers late in the night of each new moon. If you like this post, you’ll like the Dark Moon Omen. Thanks for considering upgrading your subscription.
The Blood Moon Omen is the
Omen of Balance. It asks that you spend this time reflecting on the part of your life that need to realign into healthy balance. Consider your spiritual growth, work, play, relationships, health . . . if you rated each on a scale of 1 - 10, which area is currently rating 8 while others linger at 2?
To help you decide how to rebalance, two sacred Pathways reveal themselves. One is the Pathway of the Captive, the other is the Pathway of Fellowship.
The Path of the Captive
Under this Blood Moon, Balance can come through recognizing where you are held captive by old patterns, obligations, or expectations. The Captive path asks you to pause and listen to the rhythm of your life—much like the bears in the card, playing their accordions while still confined. You may find that the music you are playing is not your own, but one written long ago by family, culture, or circumstance.
To walk this pathway is to become aware of the ways you’ve been constrained, and to slowly disentangle yourself from them. Balance here is achieved not by breaking free in a single act of rebellion, but by gradually choosing which notes, which roles, and which commitments you truly want to keep.
This path is both difficult and clarifying: it requires you to sit honestly with discomfort, naming the cages you’ve built or inherited. Yet as you see them clearly, the walls lose some of their power. Captive balance isn’t about immediate liberation; it’s about inner alignment. By acknowledging where you feel stuck, you create space for freedom of choice. This pathway teaches that balance isn’t always external harmony; it’s the internal equilibrium of knowing your truth, even within constraint.
The Path of Fellowship
The Fellowship path offers a second path into Balance: through connection, trust, and shared vision. In this card, the fox-headed figures stand together, smartly dressed and flanked by loyal animals—symbols of companionship, loyalty, and mutual respect. This pathway reminds you that balance does not always have to be found alone. When the world feels chaotic or when your own inner scales tip too far in one direction, fellowship offers a counterweight. Friends, allies, chosen family, or even brief kindred spirits can help anchor you, steadying your steps until you find your own rhythm again.
Walking the Fellowship path requires openness to reciprocity. It is not simply about leaning on others, but also being willing to be leaned upon. Balance here is a living exchange. The Blood Moon emphasizes honesty as shallow ties will not hold you steady. True fellowship emerges from authenticity, respect, and a willingness to stand alongside one another, even in shadow. To choose this path is to recognize that sometimes balance is communal, born from trust and shared presence, rather than solitude.
The Blood Moon rises. Which path will you choose?

Wow, both of these really resonate.
The path of the captive feels too hard and painful to deal with right now, but I am acutely aware of it.
The path of fellowship is my jam. I've been able to work successfully with that through difficult times and I'm going to lean more heavily into it with this prompt.
Interestingly, I feel like the path of fellowship will aid me tremendously with what is needed in the path of the captive.
Thanks so much for speaking of the lunar eclipse with the use of The Oracle of Rewilding! Wonderful! ⚖️
