I know the fae live in the tree outside
my office window. I’ve also seen glimpses of them in the flowers potted by the front door. Today I decided to start an experiment to see if I could use tarot or an oracle to ask them for a voice memo about the flowers.
May I suggest you try the same with your plants - either those outside or the indoor ones?
I drew a single card from the Fairy Wisdom Oracle - Magnolia. Now if you know plants, you know that Magnolia are abundant in the SE of the U.S. But for an unknown reason, back in the day, landscapers planted them in San Diego - not a welcoming climate. So I was surprised to draw that card.
Although I used a Fairy oracle, you can use the oracle of your choice.
But then two things crossed my mind. My sister - who is a superb gardener - has magnolias in her front yard. And, the deck’s book said this card was about energy following focus.
For me that meant asking my sis about my flowers and spending more time focusing on the health and well-being of the fae flower playground. I will do both.
Now I could have stopped here, but I am one of those flower people who love to talk to them and try to listen for a response. Sometimes, to be honest, that voice memo comes in the form of more blossoms or a message about needing less water.
So I drew a tarot card (you could use an oracle) asking for a voice memo from the plants themselves.
Christmas Cactus sent along the 10 of Cups
Schefflera (which spends time both inside and out) sent me the 8 of Swords
Geranium gave the 5 of Cups
Spanish Lavender showed up as the Knight of Cups
And Pothos the 10 of Pentacles
The messages were so clear. The Cactus is happy, the Schefflera wants to come back inside, the Geranium is being overwatered, the Lavender is happy as is the Pothos, but the Lavender would like me to be a little more attentive with the water!
Lastly, I asked the fae if my take
on the cards was correct. Using The Faeries’ Oracle (art Brian Froud, book by one of my oldest friends, Jessica Macbeth), I drew the Fee Lion.
In no uncertain terms, the Fee Lion was scolding me! ‘Take better care of these flowers!’ was his clear refrain. If you don’t know this deck, this card is about finishing what you start - and although I made a good start today, I’m being told that my work is far from over.
Those fae! 🧚🧚♀️

If you have flowers or any plants that attract the fae, start listening to the whispers. You just have to slow down and tune in.
Whether you use tarot, an oracle deck, or simply your senses, start a conversation with the green world around you. Ask your plants how they’re feeling, what they need, or what wisdom they have to share. You might be surprised by how clearly they answer.
The fae love curiosity, and they adore being included—especially when it means tending to their leafy playgrounds. So go on, give it a try. Pull a card, pour a little water, and see who answers back.

Magnolia fairy has antennas on her head...I take this as stay tuned 😉
Oh I love this!!! I love the Fae and it never crossed my mind to check in with my houseplants! I talk to the Winds and the trees outside my apt and ask the Fae for help while I’m out and about (traffic and parking places). Thanks for another fun exercise and awareness!
