Claire was kind enough to allow me to
repost this wonderful ancestral spread that appeared in her latest newsletter. (Go to BlackandtheMoon.com to get on her mailing list.) Lughnasadh is celebrated on August 1, and is the first of the three harvest sabbats. I didn’t want the weekend to get away from me without sharing this.
Claire’s spread positions are:
Card 1: Ancestral Message
What message do my ancestors have for me at this time?
Card 2: Harvest Wisdom
What wisdom or knowledge have I inherited from my ancestors that I should focus on now?
Card 3: Current Guidance
How are my ancestors guiding me in my daily activities?
Card 4: Gratitude Offering
What can I do to show my gratitude to my ancestors?
Card 5: Ancestor's Strength
What strength have I inherited from my ancestors?
Card 6: Healing and Release
What ancestral wounds or patterns need addressing right now?
Card 7: Future Blessings
What blessings are my ancestors sending my way for the future?
I did this spread with both tarot and my own
Ancestral Magick deck. They were eerily in sync, although the cards, themselves, couldn’t have differed more, image-wise. My draw was:
Honestly, six of the cards weren’t surprising - they were what I would have expected. The standout, for me, was card 2 (What wisdom or knowledge have I inherited from my ancestors that I should focus on now?) - the Outlaw.
Now I know we think about Outlaws as the bad guys - the ones who rustled cattle or robbed banks. But for me, the Outlaw is about focusing on being way more comfortable outside the box. In fact, I believe the Outlaw would prefer it if there was no box. Working on it.
Thank you for doing this spread and sharing as much as you’d like. It’s incredibly joyful for me to read your brilliant take on the cards and the charms and the spreads.
I’m making this a short one today - it’s Friday, it’s gorgeous here in San Diego - and I’m off to enjoy Mother Nature and all of her lovely gifts.
Nancy
Nancy, I just celebrated my Eve of Lughnasadh Anniversary as it was the day Robin and I chose for our marriage. It is a very special time of the year when the long arm of Lugh stretches deep into the past and into the future. I can see why Claire used it for an ancestral reading. Xx
This is wonderful. Looking forward to doing my own reading!
